There are several interesting and exciting music festivals taking place in Aberdeenshire this summer. Whether you prefer indie, folk, classic rock or more family-oriented entertainment there is something to suit every taste.

Festivals provide the perfect opportunity to check out the North East’s fabulous musical talent and venue locations. Take a look at our lineup of events gracing the Aberdeenshire stage over the next few months.

Enjoy Music Festival - 1st-2nd June

If you’re looking for a more traditional festival experience with big-name artists on the bill, Enjoy Music is the event for you. With sets from Faithless, Basement Jaxx and Goldie Looking Chain, the atmosphere is sure to be electric.

Aside from the musical talent on offer, a family entertainment and VIP area, fun fair and food village will all be available over the weekend. Located at Hazlehead Park, camping is not permitted.

All ticket types including family, weekend, day and VIP upgrades are still available via the website, but are selling fast.

Fyvie Live – 9th June

Considered to be the UK’s ‘posh T in the Park’, this open-air family concert is set against the backdrop of one of Scotland’s most historic landmarks. Hosted by Emmerdale’s Chris Chettel and with a range of musical genres performing, the show will close with a bang, in the form of a fireworks display spectacular.

Gates open at 2pm with the main show taking place between 7pm-10pm. Tickets start at £28 (under 5s are free) with a range of upgrades available. In addition to the performances on-stage, there will be a variety of food, drink and craft stalls on-site, and picnics can be enjoyed on the lawn.

North Atlantic Fiddle Convention - 11th -15th July

If fiddle is more your thing, or you just fancy something a little different, then be sure to head to the North Atlantic Fiddle Convention. This world-class event will bring together highly acclaimed string artists, dancers and academics.

The leading fiddle and dance styles developed across the North Atlantic coast will be showcased and celebrated with performances, talks and workshops. This event is suitable for the entire family and tickets will soon be available on the website.

Deeside Music Festival - 31st August-1st September

We’d recommend looking your wellies out for this one. Hosted at Deeside Activity Park, a collection of rock, folk and indie bands will come together against the backdrop of Dess Valley on Royal Deeside. Headliners include four-piece blues rock band Gerry Jablonski & the Electric Band, tribute band Wish You Were Floyd and The Lorelei, a group blending rock, folk, indie and punk.

Weekend tickets cost £45 with camping tickets priced at £20 (campervans are welcome).

True North - 20th-23rd September

Located in the heart of Aberdeen city, True North brings together contemporary artists and unique performers over a three-day period. This year’s lineup includes Eclectic Public Service Broadcasting, Arab Strap and Wild Beats who will take the stage at a variety of city centre venues.

The fun doesn’t stop there. A Fringe Festival programme of free events will also run, as well as musical masterclasses for those aged 14-25. These include songwriting and sound production workshops.

So, bring your sunglasses (and perhaps a waterproof, just to be safe) and head to one of the North East’s musical festivals this summer.
