Whilst Hatton is a small village, there remains a host of things to do in the surrounding area.
- Cruden Bay Golf Club
Cruden Bay has had golf since the 18th century and since the golf club was formed 100 years later, little has changed. It’s a quirky course, filled with rugged links and sand dunes taller than 2 stories tall, as well as bumpy greens and fairways. The course offers stunning beach views and a seascape that can be viewed from the green.
- Explore Slains Castle
On the coast of Cruden Bay, the ruins of Slain Castle sit. Believed to be one of the inspirations for Bram Stoker’s Dracula, the castle was originally held by the Earls of Errol, who had ties to the English monarchy. The castle fell into ruins after the family experienced hardship and sold the castle to Sir John Ellerman who removed the roof to avoid paying taxes.
