Last week, we hosted our first ever virtual “Ask the Expert” event. Previously, these events have been held in ASPC’s Chapel Street Centre, however, with the limitations encountered from Covid-19, the decision was taken to move the format online.  

With an expert panel assembled from the local property sector, the focus for this event was on answering burning questions from members of the public around Covid-19 and the North East property market.

Within excess of 200 attendees signing up to join, the event was a success and covered a wide variety of topics. Attendees were asked to submit their questions in advance, as well as there being a facility to pose them on the night also.

Everything, from how the market has adapted since March 2020 and what the new Scottish Government guidance on moving home means, to what the future of the local market looks like for 2021, was fielded by the panel, along with much more.

Some of the main questions raised at this event by attendees were:

• How is the market doing currently and what are the predictions for 2021/22 when the furlough scheme ends?
• What are purchasers looking for and what are the top tips for marketing your property
• Home reports – how are these prepared and how do you go about getting them updated if you rectify any issues
• Mortgages – changes to required minimum deposit amounts and mortgage holidays
• Why do some properties sell better than others?
• What is the position on LBTT and ADS?
